Janet Siddall

As a Canadian diplomat, Janet’s career took her around the world from Africa, to Asia, Europe and back again to Africa. The journey was fascinating, sometimes heart breaking, but always rewarding. And it certainly made her realize how proud and grateful she was to be Canadian. She also developed an abiding respect and admiration for the women she met along the way who were, often against all odds, holding their families and their communities together.

Now retired, Janet, a proud grandmother of four, dedicates her volunteer hours to the Grandmothers Advocacy Network, (GRAN) a non-partisan network of older women across Canada who advocate for the human rights of grandmothers, vulnerable children and youth in Africa. GRAN seeks to influence our own government and the international community to respond to the unique challenges faced by older women.
