André is a grade 10 student at Salmon Arm Secondary School in Shuswap First Nation in Kamloops, British Columbia. He was home-schooled for most of his life, and his parents instilled in him a strong desire for justice and fighting for what’s right. He decided to enroll in high school because he wanted the opportunity to connect with more people his age and inspire action among his peers.
André has always felt very lucky to grow up with a caring family, great friends, and a healthy environment. He recognizes that not all Indigenous children have the same privileges he has, and that many reserves in Canada do not have access to clean water. He volunteers with Pacific Peoples’ Partnership and WaterAid to implement youth programming for both organizations, and he creates infographics for social media on the importance of these programs.
